March 2011 Check Presentation

Thursday, June 2, 2011

Health, vitality, and vigor of the mind, body and soul…they are essential to living a long, productive life and fulfilling one’s highest potential. No one knows this better than the courageous individuals who touch lives every day because they have chosen to serve their community in the medical field.

The dedicated medical professionals at Watson Clinic fulfill this mission not only at their vast network of medical facilities, but by reaching out a caring hand to those Polk State College students who have felt the same call to service. For almost twenty years, Watson Clinic has been vital to the success of the Polk State College Nursing and Allied Health programs though their generous philanthropy and partnership. Their major investments in Nursing and Allied Health programs at Polk State College have played an important role in these students’ success. The College’s ability to attain the extremely well-respected status of its allied health programs has been due in no small part to Watson Clinic’s significant, long-lasting support.

In a check presentation ceremony at its District Board of Trustees meeting on March 28, 2011 on the Lakeland Campus, the Polk State College Foundation gratefully honored Watson Clinic and the Watson Clinic Foundation for their generous support of the College over the years, totaling $100,000. On hand to accept the honor were Dr. Louis Saco, Chief Executive Officer of Watson Clinic, and Melinda Harrison, Chief Operating Officer of Watson Clinic and member of the Polk State College Foundation Board.

Jerry Miller, Treasurer of the Polk State College Foundation Board of Directors, thanked them warmly on behalf of the entire Foundation Board of Directors.

“Louis, you have played a critical role in directing Watson Clinic’s philanthropy to help Polk State College students attain their dream of a higher education for many years and we are most grateful.  And Melinda, we also greatly appreciate your leadership and dedication to the College and Foundation missions, and the initiative you have shown in supporting the institution’s priorities.  On behalf of my fellow members of the Foundation Board of Directors, I thank you whole-heartedly for Watson Clinic and its Foundation’s generous support of the College over the years,” said Mr. Miller.
