November 2010 Check Presentation

Comfort. This simple word evokes powerful emotions and images of being warmly enveloped by family, home and hearth, and security. And the most potent form of comfort is that which endures—knowing that there are people that can be counted on to continuously provide support and caring, year after year, decade after decade. For more than 20 years, the people at W.S. Badcock Corporation have faithfully given this unwavering support to the Polk State College Foundation.  Over this time it has nurtured the educational dreams of countless Polk State College students through its support of elementary, annual and endowed scholarships, an endowed teaching chair, athletics and so much more.

With a generous $100,000 in-kind commitment over 10 years made to the College through the major gift campaign in 2002, Badcock has transformed the College’s surroundings and functionality. This donation of $10,000 worth of furniture, electronics, and appliances annually to meet college needs has benefitted Polk State College’s students, faculty and staff alike by enhancing student activities areas, common areas, and office waiting areas, and providing program necessities, such as a washer and dryer for the PTA/OTA program. Polk State College can always count on the quality of these products, which continually exceed user expectations.

On November 22, 2010 at a check presentation ceremony at its District Board of Trustees meeting on the Lakeland campus, the Polk State College Foundation gratefully honored the W.S. Badcock Corporation for its overwhelmingly generous donations of approximately $152,000 over the years.  Present to accept the honor were Wogie Badcock, Executive Vice President of Public Affairs, and Susan Skipper, Executive Assistant. They received the heartfelt gratitude of Polk State College’s District Board, Foundation Board and the entire Polk State College for making a meaningful difference in the lives of Polk State College’s students, faculty and staff.

“On behalf of the W. S. Badcock employees, associate dealers and the many customers we have served, we are happy to provide Polk State College with some of the many blessings that have been given to us,” said Mr. Badcock.
