October 2019 Check Presentation

Tuesday, November 5, 2019

At the October 2019 District Board of Trustees meeting, Legoland® Florida Resort was recognized for their support of Polk State College Foundation events and scholarships to help Polk State students.

Brent Parrish, Chair of the Foundation board of directors, introduced the company and the gift. He noted that since Winter Haven and Polk County became fortunate enough to become home to LEGOLAND® Florida Resort eight years ago, it has become an important partner to Polk State and has uplifted our entire community in countless ways.  Of significant importance to Polk State is the thoughtful investments LEGOLAND® has made in our students.  In addition to their extremely generous support of events, scholarships and programs, they take a sincere interest in student success through their active participation in the College’s internship program.  LEGOLAND® hires both Polk State students and alumni alike and takes great pride in their relationship to the College.  They created a Polk State “brick” for employees – better known as Model Citizens – to wear on their name badges.  They also host an annual event to celebrate the success of graduates and honor the perseverance  of current students.

LEGOLAND® Florida Resort has generously supported Foundation events and scholarships to help Polk State students attain their dreams of a college degree.  A total of $46,974.00 has been donated to the Foundation over the eight years the company has been in Polk County. Representing the company were Rex Jackson and Chloe Boehm.
