Happy New Year! And what a happy new year it is!

January 3 was another exciting day for the College and Foundation as we celebrated the Ribbon Cutting, Dedication, and Grand Opening ceremonies for the two new Teaching and Learning Innovation Centers on the Winter Haven and Lakeland Campuses. These state-of-the-art environments are designed for faculty use to enhance, energize, and elevate the educational experience. These incredible facilities would not have been possible without the private philanthropy of the Boyer Building Corporation, for which, on behalf of the Foundation Board, College leadership, and faculty, I am most grateful.

The Foundation Team has the good fortune to regularly witness the positive impact donations provide for our students, including the tremendous outcome made on their goals and dreams. Scholarships truly do make all the difference in many students’ chances to attain their dreams for a college education. Whether it’s a $100, $1,000, or $10,000, the responses are similar…ecstatic, relieved, grateful.

However you are able to support the Polk State College Foundation, please know that your contributions are transformational. Gifts at all levels made through annual appeals, special events, and solicited and unsolicited donations make the Polk State Foundation able to award more than 1,500 scholarships; this represents more than $1.5 million in assistance provided to students. As Margaret Mead so wisely said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”

Thank you for helping change our community—our world—through your support of Polk State students.

All the very best,
