Miracle Toyota Establishes Endowed Scholarship at Polk State College in Honor of Black History Month

Miracle Toyota has established an endowed scholarship fund to provide support for Black students at Polk State College. The Haines City dealership and Polk County’s largest-serving higher education institution are announcing this partnership in honor of Black History Month and to provide support in the form of scholarships through the Polk State College Foundation. “Polk State is incredibly grateful for Miracle Toyota’s commitment to our community and investment in quality higher education,” Polk State President Angela Garcia Falconetti. “Higher education often serves as the best opportunity for social and economic mobility; however, research has shown that minority students often do not have as many resources to pay for college. Support like Miracle Toyota’s helps to close that gap and fund student success.” The Polk State Foundation awards approximately $1 million in student scholarships annually.

Miracle Toyota donates a percentage of its monthly revenue to local charities. Miracle Toyota has dedicated a percentage of its revenues in February over the next five years to this Polk State Foundation endowed scholarship fund. “We believe that education helps people become better citizens by increasing their chances of getting higher-paying jobs, which leads to growth and stability. By providing Polk State College with resources to help close the wealth gap in our community, we can shape a better society one person at a time,” Miracle Toyota Owner Mike Murphy said. Miracle Toyota’s support for minority students comes on the cusp of Polk State’s student demographics becoming majority-minority: 26 percent Hispanic, 17 percent Black, 48 percent White, and 9 percent other minorities.
