Dr. Falconetti and Polk State College Foundation Establish Memorial Scholarship for Student and Alum

The Zachary Mace and Faith Baker Rowe Memorial Scholarship has been established by Polk State College President Angela Garcia Falconetti with her initial investment matched by the Polk State College Foundation in memory of private pilot and Polk State Aerospace student Zachary Mace and Sunrise Aviation flight instructor and Polk State alumna Faith Baker Rowe. Donations made to this memorial scholarship will be invested in flight training for Polk State Aerospace students.

Polk State College mourns the loss of Mace and Rowe after a plane crash over Lake Hartridge in Winter Haven. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office identified two small airplanes as a Cherokee fixed-wing plane operated by Sunrise Aviation on behalf of Polk State, and a Piper J3 Cub Seaplane operated by Jack Brown’s Seaplane Base.

“Our Polk State College family is devastated by this tragedy,” President Falconetti said. “We extend our deepest condolences to their families, friends, and colleagues.”

Polk State is offering support on its campuses, by phone, and virtually through the BayCare Student Assistance Program and the Employee Assistance Program.
